Happy Fourth!

Hope all of my American friends had a spectacular 4th of July! We kept it pretty low key early in the day and hung out at home with the kitties.

In the early afternoon, we went down to Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando for Fireworks At The Fountain, where it promptly started storming like crazy. Luckily, Tadd’s office has an awesome view of the lake, and they were kind enough to open for employees and their friends & family. Some friends of ours joined us too. Soon enough the storms passed, it got dark, and the fireworks went off beautifully!

Anniversary weekend.

Celebrated 8 years of marriage this past weekend with a mini-getaway.  We stayed at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort for 1 night, spent the afternoon at the resort’s pool, and then had dinner at the California Grill atop the Contemporary Resort with a panoramic view of Magic Kingdom (and a great view of the Wishes fireworks show!).  Wanted to share a few Instagram pics I took.  Enjoy!

My week in Instagram; 4th of July version!

4th of July is over and our out-of-town family have left.  Posts should resume normal frequency now!  I’m sure you have all missed me immensely…Ha!

Just thought I would share some Instagram snaps from the week with you all…

Getting the guestroom ready for Tadd’s mom with a little help from the furkids.

Sunday morning, we got up early and drove out to DeLeon Springs to have breakfast at the Old Spanish Sugar Mill. It’s a historic restaurant where every table has it’s own griddle, and they bring pitchers of pancake batter and mix-ins (chocolate chips, blueberries, etc), and you cook your own pancakes at your table! Fun!

A closer look at the waterwheel of the Old Spanish Sugar Mill.

We took a brief stroll through the Stetson University campus, which is beautiful. This is one of the campus buildings.

We spent the afternoon and evening of July 4th enjoying the GORGEOUS weather by Lake Eola for the City of Orlando’s Fireworks at the Fountain celebration.

The breeze off the lake was sooooo lovely. Especially for July in Florida!

Awesome view!

Instagram Link Party: Magic Kingdom is just better at night!

Ok, I will admit that I am sad about my Patriots’ loss last night, but will thank them for a great season.  Now let’s all move on ahead to baseball season, huh?  Go Sox!

Anyways, early Saturday evening we met up with a group of friends for a lovely night at Magic Kingdom.  The park was open until midnight, but the fireworks were at 8, which is always a great sign that between 8 and midnight, the park will be uncrowded, very comfortable (we had gorgeous weather!), and much more enjoyable.  And luckily, that is exactly what happened!  Maybe it really was the lack of crowds and great weather, but to me Magic Kingdom is always more fun at night.  Between 4pm and 11pm, we were able to do Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor, Peoplemover, Philharmagic, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, Snow White’s Scary Adventures, Winnie The Pooh, and Buzz Lightyear SRS.  And that timeframe also included dinner, and the fireworks show.  And we were touring at what I would say was a very leisurely pace!  When we go during the day, we are lucky if we get half that much done (and we have to deal with heat & crowds).  I think I am sold on nighttime-only when going to MK from now on!

This post is linked up with the weekly Instagram Link Party over at a {little} dash of ash!

Fireworks: Check!

I got to check the first item off of my Summer List last night!  Tadd and I met some friends at Disney’s Polynesian Resort for dinner at Kona Cafe and a viewing of Magic Kingdom’s Wishes fireworks display from the beach behind the resort.

Dinner was delicious, as always.  Honestly, my favorite part of a dinner at Kona Cafe is always their sweet Hawaiian bread served with macadamia nut honey butter.  I also splurged on a glass of Conundrum.  I am convinced this is the best wine ever.  Between the bread, butter, and wine, I was a happy girl.  I had the Pan-Asian Noodles for my entree, and also had a teensy bit of Tadd’s white chocolate cheesecake for dessert.  Check out the Mickey Mouse sprinkles!

Then it was out back for the fireworks.  We were JUST in time.

Not wanting the night to end so early, we decided to take the monorail over to the Contemporary Resort for an Orlando Brewing organic beer flight at The Wave.

L to R: Blonde Ale, Pale Ale, and Brown Ale, all by Orlando Brewing.

So there you have it.  One item down, several more to go!
